Geometric sandcastles by Calvin Seibert

Seibert on his process:

Building “sandcastles” is a bit of a test. Nature will always be against you and time is always running out. Having to think fast and to bring it all together in the end is what I like about it…When they are successful they don’t feel contained or finished. They become organic machines that might grow and expand. I am always adding just one more bit and if time allowed I wouldn’t stop.

simple reference tools make a great amount of difference.

ungh yes this

There’s so many angles that I can’t draw people from

and everyone is like “Look at pictures of people”

but for something like angles, it’s hard to 1. get the one you need and 2. hard to translate that into a simple drawing.

I can translate a figure into a simple drawing

but heads?

Doomed.

This is a godsend.

Finally made rice wet enough that I could make onigiri in the morning after putting it in the fridge overnight. (Katsuo fumi furikake, because that’s what I had closest.)

From a while ago, but these turned out really well, actually, so I definitely will do this sort of thing again. I also ended up getting a tuna-mayo onigiri a bit later, ahah, though it was from a Korean store and thus… not exactly what I was expecting. Still tasty?
